With as little as $20 in simple parts, you too - if you believe the dozens of online videos available - can build or buy a hydrogen fuel cell, install it in any combustion engined vehicle, and begin saving big money at the pump while reducing emissions. HHO has quite a history. It is used today as a welding fuel, in lime torches, and it was a preferred light source in pre-incandescent light-bulb lanterns.
With more efficient hydrogen manufacturing methods coming rapidly - and improvements injecting the hydrogen into your engine by numerous handymen-turned-entrepreneurs - it probably won't be long before you may be adding an inexpensive hydrogen fuel cell to your car also. Click here to check out just a few of the dozens of videos describing i) the process and ii) the installation of dramatically improving your gas mileage overnight. CAUTION - hydrogen is a highly flammable and explosive gas. If you start manufacturing Hydrogen in your basement, any spark or lit match could turn that room into the Hydenburg. To avoid an accidental remodeling of your home or garage, use extreme caution and rely on an experienced installer or mechanic before you consider any procedure that could void your vehicle's manufacturer warrantee. CAUTION - Although HHO appears to be quite stable, be forewarned - some online videos depict the creation of a variant of HHO called DHMO (dihydrogen monoxide) - also called "Brown's Gas". DHMO is quite a dangerous substance if you share the viewpoint of the folks at www.dhmo.org/facts.html. If you find an authoritative explanation of HHO vs DHMO, please contact us and let us know what to warn others about. This is pretty exciting stuff - but if you choose to try this yourself, we suggest you stick with a baking soda catalyst and treat the electrolysed gas with profound respect. The facts:Well - there don't appear to be many "credible" accounts other than a detailed explanation of HHO in the International Journal of Hydrogen Energy (1996). Popular Science is reported to be testing these devices but haven't yet published their findings and auto manufacturers are reported to be looking at it seriously as well. Internet videos abound showing a bunch of "yokals" (that is - normal guys just like you and me) that have, in many cases, substantially improved their fuel mileage. Other success stories are rampant throughout the internet and are too numerous to list. The Options:Inexpensive Mason jar solutions might appeal to the do-it-yourselfer in all of us but for those of us that depend on our cars working without interuption, there are professional units out there with 3 and 5 year warrantees as well. Check out http://www.h202hho.com/hhounittoolsparts.html for a desciption of one manufacturer's high-quality HHO solution.

Electrolysing HHO from water takes alternating positively and negatively charged stainless steel plates, tap or distilled water, a catalyst (salt or baking soda preferred) and an electical current - provided here by any typical alternator. Just tie your fuel cell into your engine's intake manifold - and voila - you begin to burn hydrogen alongside gasoline.
